Shambhala International is one of the largest Tibetan Buddhist organizations in the West, with a network of more than 200 outposts in over 30 countries. Thousands come for training in meditation and mindfulness, while some delve into the deeper mysteries of Tibetan Buddhism.

The organization was founded by Chögyam Trungpa, a charismatic and brilliant teacher who embodied the concept of "crazy wisdom." This practice involves using bizarre and sometimes abusive methods to push devotees into higher states of being.
